BGC – Captain’s Message – 25th January 2024
Dear Fellow Members
I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas and New Year and is looking forward to the 2024 season!
It has been a busy few weeks at the Club this year already. As well as a couple of private functions, Madeleine’s steak night was a great success as always and Andy Tarbet’s first quiz night of the year was full yet again. The Gent’s annual prize-giving was also held in the clubhouse on Friday, with our guest speaker Frank McAvennie providing many entertaining stories from the world of professional football. There was a full take up for this event so many thanks to Match Secretary David Bryson and Assistant Match Secretary Kenny Allan for their organisation of the event. A huge thanks to all those who attended and congratulations again to all the prize winners on the evening.
Lots to look forward to in the coming weeks in February before the golf season starts. Andy’s quiz night is on Friday 2nd February, I’m sure this will be another sell out. Our Race Night is on 9th February. This is a sell out event however there are still a small number of horses available to sponsor for the evening – race sheets are on the wall of the lounge. The Curry Karaoke is on Friday 16th February, this will be advertised shortly so please keep an eye out for that and book early to avoid disappointment. Last but not least, the Sunday Session, one of our very popular Sunday afternoon events, is on the 25th February. Full details of this will be out to members this coming weekend.
Finally, Ewen Ferguson got his 2024 season off to a solid start with an 11th place finish in the Dubai Invitational so here’s to another great season for Ewen in 2024!
