BGC – Juniors 2026

BGC – Juniors 2026

Hello,

With the better weather just around the corner, I thought this would be a good time to touch base ahead of the golfing season.

Please see below for details of upcoming events and updates for our Junior Section.

Junior Spring Coaching Session

You should all have received an email earlier this week confirming that the Junior Spring Tuesday Coaching sessions will be running again this year. This is a great opportunity for both new and existing junior members to work with our European Tour Professional, Andrew McArthur, improving their game while meeting other golfers.

If you have any questions or would like further information, please contact Alan Duncan (Junior Coaching) or myself.

Junior Prizegiving – 2025/2026

As you know, we didn’t hold a prizegiving last year after two proposed dates fell through due to low availability.

At the time, it was agreed that we would look to host the 2025 prizegiving during the 2026 season. I had initially planned for this to take place at the end of April (26th), however this will now move to the end of the 2026 season.

This feels more appropriate, allowing us to host a proper end-of-season event where players, parents, and friends can attend. The event will celebrate both our 2025 and 2026 junior golfers.

Junior Fixture List

Spring fixtures have now been added to the ClubV1 diary. As with last year, fixtures will be planned 1–2 months in advance, allowing flexibility based on participation levels.

Below is a snapshot of the next seven Junior Medals, starting next week. Tee times can be booked via your HowDidIDo login:

  • 21st April – Opening 9-Hole Medal
  • 28th April – Tuesday Medal (9 Holes)
  • 3rd May – Junior Monthly Medal (18 Holes)
  • 5th May – Tuesday Medal (9 Holes)
  • 12th May – Tuesday Medal (9 Holes)
  • 17th May – Junior Handicap Medal (18 Holes)
  • 19th May – Tuesday Medal (9 Holes)

JJ McCarry Team

Following a successful season last year (2 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss), we have been placed in Division 3 for the 2026 season.

Fixture details and competing teams can be viewed via the table below:

For home fixtures, we will follow last year’s format, with a meal served at 4:30pm and first tee at 5:00pm. Reminder of the rulings can be found  – HERE

We also have new teamwear arriving in the coming weeks, ensuring all players can represent BGC in branded polo shirts and midlayers.

The team is open to all players with a valid Scottish Golf handicap. We are always keen to welcome new players, so if you are interested in being considered, let me know.

GolfSixes Team

GolfSixes continues to be very popular and is aimed at younger players taking their first steps into team golf.

It is primarily for primary school-aged golfers with no handicap or a handicap above 35. Teams consist of six players (with reserves often included), playing a Texas Scramble format in pairs over six short holes. Scores are combined to give a team total.

The focus is very much on fun, giving children the chance to meet players from other clubs in a relaxed environment. Parents are welcome to follow and support.

If your child is interested, please get in touch.

Scottish Golf are also proposing a “GolfNines” format—similar but played over nine holes and aimed at players with a golfing handicap. BGC has registered interest, I will share further details once available.

WhatsApp Group

To keep communication simple and informal, I primarily use a WhatsApp information group (currently over 60 members). This is a one-way communication channel used to share updates with juniors and parents.
