BGC – Juniors – July 2024 Newsletter

Hi All, 

I hope you have all been enjoying the warmer weather on the golf course. 

As I am sure you are aware, there is currently a 3 week course disruption currently in play’ which takes place between 1st – 21st July. 

There will be no availability for formal golf at BGC during these dates; this means that no knockout competitions / medals and or team matches are to be played(informal golf will still be able to be played as standard). 

I appreciate this is frustrating especially during prime ‘golfing time’ but what I will say is that the next development stage will be positively impacted because of this decision. 

Golf Sixes

Our Golf Sixes have enjoyed another positive season so far with 1 fixture still to be played. For new members, please see the below link which explains what Golf Sixes is and if this is of interest; please get in touch.

JJ McCarry 

It has been fantastic to see how much our JJ McCarry have improved in the last 12 months. Last year we were struggling to attend fixtures due to low numbers but this year we have had multiple reserves as well as our 4 starting players. In general our JJ McCarry team are the youngest in the region which bodes well for the future.  The future of competitive team golf at BGC is bright! 

Gala Weekend

The BGC Gala Weekend is a pilar of the golfing calendar and will take place between Thursday 15th – Sunday 18th August.  The 4 day event brings the whole club together and shows why BGC is the best in the area. Like last year, the Friday night (16th August) at BGC is Junior Night. 

We will host a Junior Texas Scramble which will be limited to 36 players (9 x teams of 4); this will start at 6pm via Shotgun start. I know that this is over a month away but I appreciate spaces will fill up fast; to secure your members place, please either reply to this email or message me via WhatsApp (07475951199). 

Knockout Competitions

The Junior knockout competition entries are now open and available for sign up. In previous years we have struggled for players to play in these competitions but as we increase the numbers of Juniors with official golfing handicaps this allows for further inter club competitions. New Putting Green

As per 1st July we are thrilled to announce that our brand-new putting green is now open! This is a great opportunity for our Juniors to practice their putting game.
