BGC Juniors – July 2023

Good Afternoon,

With the golfing season now in full swing I am excited to let you know what has been going on at BGC in the Juniors ‘space’.

Summer Coaching Camp

The BGC Juniors have enjoyed a very successful Summer Coaching Camp. This is always a roaring success which can be viewed by all days being fully booked. A massive thank you to Alan Duncan for running & managing the event.

Junior Johnstone Cup

I am happy to announce the dates and details for the Junior Johnstone Cup. To add some context; the Johnstone Cup is the Club Championship at BGC. I am hoping this will be a great event with top quality golf on show.

* Round 1 – Monday 31st July
* Round 2 – Tuesday 1st August
* Semi Final – 3rd August
* Final – Saturday 5th August.

Ewen Ferguson Trophy

We have held 4 rounds of the Ewen Ferguson Trophy with plenty more rounds to be played over the next 6-8 weeks. As a reminder; even if a Junior has not yet played in any previous rounds they are still able to compete and play in future rounds. I have created a set of walk through instructions on how to view/ register and submit scoring for all medals on HDID. Also, this competition is a great opportunity for Juniors who are trying to gain their handicap (by completing their 54h qualifying holes) as it allows a perfect environment for them to complete either 9/18holes with other Juniors.

BGC Juniors Info – WhatsApp Group

Thank you to everyone who has already joined the Juniors Info WhatsApp group. For anyone who is yet to join; the group has been created for Information/Reminders/Results etc for all Junior Activities at BGC. It is a one-way chat so will avoid the multiple messages back and forth.

Knockout Competitions

Registration for the Knockout Competitions are still available; this is a great opportunity to play match play golf. To register, visit the Knockout Section of the HowDidIDo website.

Golf Sixes

BGC has enjoyed a very successful start to the Sixes campaign with Bearsden winning on each occasion. Our next fixture is away at Douglas Park on Sunday 6th August with BGC then hosting the last fixture on Sunday 13th August.
