BGC – Captain’s Message – 2nd October 2023

BGC – Captain’s Message – 2nd October 2023

Good morning,

On Friday a charity coffee morning in aid of McMillan Cancer Support was held at the Club. A big thank you to all who came along on the day, it was great to see the clubhouse so busy. I’m sure you enjoyed the great choice of home baking. Thanks to all for their generous donations in person or online, which so far have raised in excess of £500 towards the charity.

We are now into October with only a couple of gents competitions left. Please note that the Kerr McKenzie Trophy has been moved in the Diary to Saturday 14th October. There will also be a season-closing 2 man Texas scramble competition on Saturday 21st October. The tee sheets for these competitions will be available on the Club V1 app in the normal way and you should receive an email reminder of each competition from our Match Secretary before the tee sheet opens for each competition. It would be great to see a large entry for each to see the playing season off in style!

Our Gents Medal Finals were held at the weekend and results were as follows:-

2nd – Stuart Neilly – 66

Congratulations and well played to the winners of each category who will receive the Captain’s prize at the annual prizegiving dinner for which a date will be announced shortly.

Well done to all above!

As we move towards the end of the playing season, there will be more to follow on various social events at the Club on the run up to Christmas and beyond. Look out for updates on this in the coming weeks.

Finally, congratulations to the European Ryder Cup Team on their win yesterday, hot on the heels of the European Solheim Cup success the week before. USA’s comeback in the singles ensured the win wasn’t guaranteed until late in the day but a great watch and tremendous result for Team Europe against a strong American side.

Enjoy your golf this week if you’re fortunate enough to get a game!

Regards

Jon Maclean
