BGC – Captain’s Message – 26th September 2023

Good morning,

A disappointing spell of weather last week, however I hope you managed to get a game in.

As we near the end of the season, things become a little quieter on the golf front. There were a few Club competitions last week though and results are as follows:-

Gents Handicap Medal – Sat 23rd Sept

Steven Littlejohn – 57
Robert Watson – 59
Alan Shaw – 59

Ladies 18 Hole Stableford – Thurs 21st Sept

Christine Taggart – 32 points
Isabel Stokes – 31 points
Gillian Ross – 30 points

Ladies 9 Hole Stableford – Thurs 21st Sept

Joan Rennie – 23 points
Tina Rees – 21 points
Christine Fitzpatrick – 17 points

Congratulations to all.

Congratulations also go to Ewen Ferguson, who secured a top 10 finish in the Cazoo Open de France at the weekend. A very credible performance overall and a welcome return to form. Keep it going Ewen.
I should also give a mention to Team Europe who tied 14-14 with the USA, retaining the Solheim Cup for the third time in a row. Very well done. On to the Ryder Cup this weekend which should be a great watch.

Finally, a special mention goes to member and Past Captain Jim Cumming. Jim completed his 4th and final Kiltwalk this year at the 21 mile Edinburgh event on Sunday 17 September having previously completed the Glasgow, Aberdeen and Dundee Kiltwalks. Jim crossed the finish line in just over 6 hours having enjoyed mainly pleasant weather conditions on the day. He passes on his sincere thanks for all the kind donations to his JustGiving page in support of Alzheimer Scotland and information on funds raised to date can be viewed at www.justgiving.com/page/jim-cumming-1692789424912
