BGC – Captain’s Message – 25th June 2024
Dear Members,
I hope everyone is enjoying their golf.
Exciting times are ahead! Starting from the 1st of July, we will be unveiling some of the new holes, greens, and tees. It’s been a long time coming, and we are finally here. A huge effort from all involved has brought us to this point, and the prospect of better weather should make our rounds even more enjoyable.
The golf calendar has been busy over the last few weeks. The Johnstone Cup was won by John Brown Junior with a combined score of 132, just edging out Allan Colsh by 2 shots. Allan’s fantastic scratch 62 on Sunday certainly made things interesting. We’re all looking forward to the knockout stages of the club championship this week.
The Ladies section had some equally exciting scores in the June medal. Gill Hamblen, Barbara Walker, and Jane Tait each scored a net 61. Great job, ladies – talk about friendly competition!
As we venture onto the new ground, it’s absolutely crucial that we all look after it. Replacing divots and fixing pitch marks will greatly assist our amazing green staff. This ensures the grass recovers faster, maintaining smooth playing surfaces and preserving the overall condition of the course for everyone to enjoy. Feel free to fix more than just your own damage – every little bit helps!
Also, don’t miss out on some fantastic food options available through Madeleine. Whether you’re celebrating a great round or just want to treat yourself, Madeleine has some delicious offerings that are sure to satisfy.
Let’s collectively protect our investment and elevate our course to new heights. After all, it’s not just about lowering your handicap; it’s about raising the bar for everyone!
