BGC – Captain’s Message – 21st August 2023

BGC – Captain’s Message – 21st August 2023

Good morning

Our Gala weekend takes centre stage this week.

A huge thanks to Vice Captain Steven Scott for his organisation and presentation of the Gala weekend which was a great success. Every event was full and the clubhouse was packed every day. A massive thanks also to all those who helped out, donated prizes and to all our sponsors whom Steven has already thanked individually.

A massive thanks also to John Brown and his greens staff for having the course in good condition every day, Madeleine and her team for providing great food and hospitality over the 4 days, all the bar staff for keeping everyone well watered each day and our assistant Match Secretary Kenny Allan for his assistance in arranging all the tee bookings etc! A great combined effort to ensure everyone who attended enjoyed each event. A final thanks to you, the members of Bearsden GC and your friends/guests over the weekend – without your attendance and enthusiastic support of these events, they simply wouldn’t be the success they are.

The winners of each competition were:-

Derek Blair – 21
Ryan McNulty – 21
Stephen McNulty – 20

McIntyre Seniors Team Match – Wed 16 Aug
Bearsden had a hard fought 3 – 1 home victory against Cardross GC.
The McIntyre team have 2 away games left to play – 2 wins would leave Bearsden in a very healthy position in the league so best of luck for both games!

Our Jessiman team travel to Sandyhills on Wednesday for their semi-final so best of luck to Bryan Brown and his team – it will be a tough match but would be fantastic to see Bearsden reach the final!

Talking of which, our team had an excellent victory yesterday at Palacerigg GC in the semi-final of the 4-man DGU competition. They now move on the the final against Douglas Park GC at Milngavie GC on Saturday 2nd September. Good luck to the team.

Enjoy your golf this week wherever you are playing and I hope to see you soon.

Regards

Jon Maclean
