BGC – Captain’s Message – 13th March 2024

Fellow Club Members

I hope this message finds you well and in good spirits. It is with great enthusiasm and honour, that I introduce myself as the new Club captain. I’m eager to continue the tradition of regular emails, following in the footsteps of the enjoyable messages from Jon last year. While I may not match up to Jon’s standard, I assure you that I’ll give my utmost to keep our community informed and engaged.

As we stand on the brink of a new season, I can sense the collective excitement building among us. The anticipation for warmer days and lighter nights is palpable, and I share in that excitement. There’s something special about the camaraderie and joy that golf brings, and I’m looking forward to experiencing it with all of you in the coming months.

I must say, the new additions to the course are nothing short of amazing. The transformation is remarkable, and I’m confident you’ll agree that the greens next to the clubhouse are simply outstanding. However, with great beauty comes great responsibility. To ensure these new greens both look and play their best, it’s crucial that we collectively take care of them.

One simple yet vital task that requires our attention, is the repair of pitch marks. I urge each and every one of you to take a moment to familiarize yourselves with proper pitch mark repair techniques. If you’re not confident, feel free to practice on the existing greens we have. Over time, we’ll all become skilled in this seemingly simple, but incredibly important, aspect of golf course etiquette.

Let’s make a commitment to keep our course in top-notch condition. By collectively taking responsibility for repairing pitch marks, we contribute to the overall well-being of our beloved club. Together, we can ensure that the greens remain pristine, providing us with a fantastic golfing experience throughout the upcoming year.

I look forward to seeing familiar faces and meeting new members around the club soon. The sense of community within our golf club is what makes it truly special. Here’s to a great golfing year ahead filled with memorable moments and enjoyable rounds.

Catch up with you soon on the course!

Best regards

Steven Scott
