BGC – Captain’s Message – 11th September 2023

Good morning,

I hope everyone enjoyed the incredible weather last week and managed to get a game or 2 in.

I’m sure many of you will have noticed the progress with the course Development over the last few weeks and I will provide an update on that next week.

This coming Sunday, our Jessiman Team travel to Milngavie GC to play Clober GC in the final, which begins at 12 Noon. Our 8 man Team (consisting of 4 pairs) are looking to win this for Bearsden for the very first time, so it really would be the icing on the cake of a fabulous season for the club in County and Inter-club Competitions. The very best of luck to the team on Sunday! Anyone wishing to go along and cheer the team on will be more than welcome to do so.

There were a lot of Club competitions last week and results are as follows:-

On Friday evening we had our Cocktail evening presented by Mary & Keisha from Tayport Distillery in association with The Scottish Gantry in Milngavie. A really enjoyable evening and thanks to all those who attended.

Our inaugural Murder Mystery event was advertised at the end of last week and sold out by Saturday evening so thanks again for your continued support of our social events. I’m aware that there were more people looking for tickets after the booking system was full so sincere apologies to those who weren’t able to obtain a booking. If the feedback is positive following this event, I will look to book another in the New Year to give those people who missed out another opportunity to come along.

Sadly, we are now just a few weeks away from the end of the main golfing season, but there is still much to play for until then and there will be a very healthy programme of social events coming up to see us through to Christmas & beyond, so please keep an eye out on emails and Social Media as always for these events being advertised.

Finally, after successfully making another cut in the Irish Open at the weekend Ewen Ferguson travels to Wentworth this week for the BMW PGA Championship. Best of luck from everyone at the Club Ewen!

Regards

Jon Maclean
